Senior Electrical Project Manager / M&E Project Manager-
Energy Infrastructure | North Yorkshire
£350 - £450 per day (depending on experience)

Start Date: November 2026
Duration: Long-term project with work-extending through to Autumn 2027 and beyond.

A leading international engineering contractor is seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Project Manager / M&E Project Manager to join a major energy infrastructure project in North Yorkshire.

This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in the delivery of a large-scale M&E fit-out package on a nationally significant electricity transmission project. Working within a high-performing project team, you will lead installation, coordination, testing and commissioning activities through to successful project completion.

The successful candidate will have a strong electrical background coupled with a sound understanding of mechanical building services and experience delivering complex projects in challenging construction environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the safe delivery of M&E installation works on site.
  • Manage electrical and mechanical packages from mobilisation through to handover.
  • Coordinate subcontractors, specialist suppliers and direct labour teams.
  • Develop and manage short-term programmes and look-ahead schedules.
  • Monitor productivity, progress and quality performance.
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety and environmental requirements.
  • Liaise with construction, commercial, design and commissioning teams.
  • Manage procurement activities and material schedules.
  • Produce progress reports and maintain project records.
  • Drive testing, commissioning and final handover activities.
  • Support programme recovery and resource planning where required.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as an Electrical Project Manager, M&E Project Manager or Senior Building Services Project Manager.
  • Strong electrical background with a good understanding of mechanical building services.
  • Experience delivering projects within one or more of the following sectors:
    • Energy Infrastructure
    • HVDC
    • Power Generation
    • Transmission & Distribution
    • Substations
    • Utilities
    • Data Centres
    • Industrial Manufacturing
    • Process Plants
    • Major Infrastructure
  • Experience managing large site-based workforces and subcontractors.
  • Strong planning, coordination and stakeholder management skills.
  • Commercial awareness with the ability to deliver projects to programme and budget.
  • SMSTS essential.
  • Electrical qualifications preferred.
  • Full UK driving licence.

Working Arrangements

-Monday to Friday.
-Approximately 48 hours per week.
-Additional hours available where project requirements dictate.
-High-quality welfare facilities and on-site canteen available.
-Orange PPE required (troursers supplied if needed).

About the Project

Based in Drax, North Yorkshire, this project forms part of a major UK electricity transmission development that will strengthen national energy infrastructure and support the transfer of renewable energy across the UK.

The role will support the delivery of the M&E fit-out works associated with a new HVDC converter station. Construction activity will increase significantly from early 2027, with peak labour levels expected to exceed 80 personnel during the main installation phase.
