Senior Civil Engineer
An established engineering consultancy is looking for a Senior Civil Engineer to join its growing Brighton team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced civil engineer who enjoys being close to project delivery. You'll be involved throughout the project lifecycle, working across highways, drainage and wider civil engineering schemes while collaborating directly with clients, contractors and multidisciplinary teams. The Brighton office is a small, close-knit and highly collaborative team with a strong delivery culture.
The role
You'll take ownership of civil engineering projects from initial concept and detailed design through to delivery and construction.
Day to day, you'll be:
andmiddot;Developing and delivering civil engineering, highways and drainage schemes from concept through to completion
andmiddot;Taking a hands-on role in drainage design and wider civil engineering
andmiddot;Managing your own project tasks, budgets, programmes and priorities
andmiddot;Working directly with contractors and supporting projects during construction
andmiddot;Producing and reviewing technical designs and deliverables
andmiddot;Providing guidance and support to junior and assistant engineers
andmiddot;Coordinating with other engineering disciplines and project teams
andmiddot;Supporting fee estimates, proposals and the development of new work
andmiddot;Maintaining quality standards and identifying practical solutions to technical issues
andmiddot;Building your project management and commercial responsibilities as you progress

What we're looking for
You'll ideally have at least five years' experience within civil engineering and a strong technical grounding in the delivery of infrastructure projects.
Drainage experience is essential, as you'll provide an important area of technical expertise within the Brighton team.
You'll also bring:
andmiddot;Strong civil engineering knowledge, ideally including highways infrastructure
andmiddot;Practical experience of delivering projects through detailed design and into construction
andmiddot;Knowledge and practical experience of NEC4
andmiddot;Experience working with contractors, either within consultancy/professional services or from a contractor or site engineering background
andmiddot;Good knowledge of relevant design standards, including DMRB where applicable
andmiddot;AutoCAD experience, with Civil 3D experience highly desirable
andmiddot;The ability to manage project tasks, deadlines and competing priorities
andmiddot;Good commercial awareness
andmiddot;A relevant Civil Engineering qualification
andmiddot;Professional membership of ICE, IHE or CIHT, or progress towards professional/Chartered status
Experience gained in a hands-on contractor, site engineering or consultancy delivery environment would be particularly valuable.

The role is based in Brighton, with a minimum expectation of 2-3 days per week in the office. The team has a strong office-based culture, so someone who enjoys being around colleagues and working collaboratively in person will fit particularly well.
