Job Description

I'm currently working with a well-established civil engineering contractor based in Sheffield who are looking to appoint an experienced Quantity Surveyor on a permanent basis.

This is a great opportunity for a commercially focused Quantity Surveyor to join an established business with a strong pipeline of work and genuine opportunities for long-term career progression.



The Role

As Quantity Surveyor, you'll be responsible for the commercial management of civils projects from procurement through to final account.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Managing the commercial performance of allocated projects
  • Preparing budgets, forecasts and cost/value reports
  • Subcontract procurement and management
  • Managing valuations, payments and variations
  • Monitoring project costs and identifying commercial risks and opportunities
  • Preparing and agreeing final accounts
  • Managing contractual and commercial matters
  • Working closely with the operational and commercial teams
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, subcontractors and suppliers


About You

My client is looking for a Quantity Surveyor with:

  • Experience within civil engineering / infrastructure
  • Strong commercial and contractual knowledge
  • Experience managing subcontract packages
  • Good understanding of cost control, forecasting and final accounts
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills
  • A proactive and commercially minded approach
  • Relevant Quantity Surveying / construction qualifications would be advantageous
